To have worked well visually, it would have needed a redesigning of the back doors and a slimmer C pillar. Also, a less angular apex on the tailgate. Something along the lines of the shape of the Rover 200 estate from the 1990s. The design pictured here just looks too much like a bodgy bolt-on at the back.

Nice, nothing wrong with adaptation. The 240 where the same, the rear doors didn't match really. They swapped on the 700 and designed it as an estate, thus the saloon was a bit square at the back window.

I would still very much be keen on one. the square tail makes it an old volvo if it wasn't square backed it just wouldn't be the same. needs Leo's though. But still a shame production never happened.
