Now that Randomhero has an electric sunroof on his new GLT, it's the right moment to start a topic about that.
I was always wondering if an electric sunroof from the 400 series could fit on the 300s.
Weeks ago, there was a 340 in UK sold on Ebay. I've asked for aditional pictures.
Here is a pic of my first GLT, as you can see there is a reinforcement (red arrow)
And now....
On the 340 with electric sunroof, the reinforcement is gone!!! Ok, it's maybe moved behind the sunroof but it's not the same at all for the safety!!!

Pettaw has the only electric sunroof I've seen in a 300 on his 360. It'd be interesting to know at what stage that was put in, and what happened with the roof supports. I seem to think his roof is smaller, so may not get to that part.

There was also a guy at the MK with a burgandy 340 with the same electric sunroof as Pettaw's

Ah yes, with the nice alloys I seem to remember, arrived when we were at the Restaurant Car Park later on? I never spotted the sunroof was electric.

I wonder what happened to the reinforcement beam in (soon to be) my GLT. Because it is an aftermarket sunroof?

the strengthening brace, I guess it is there mainly for stirdyness of the roof plate, when there is no sunroof it would be just sheet metal. very easy to deform.
the frame of the sunroof also gives quite some rigidity to the sheet metal around it. It takes over the job of the brace.
the brace would in no case be strong enough to act as a genuine roll bar, anyway.
in other words; dont think you will miss it with a sunroof in place
