I think 16s can fit under with no lowering.

I guess problem is finding enough low profile tire + added unsprung weight as well as inertia which tends to kill acceleration and braking performance. If I have understood correctly, smallest that clears brakes would be best for performance.

Of course if going just for looks, does it really matter if it rubs when turning a lot?

There is also point of view where increased contact patch and less tire sidewall makes handling better, problem is that it tends to make car also snappier and when not having enough power it can become quite unforgiving when going over the limit.

Yeah, I'm not fan of big wheels, two days ago I had difficulties not to laugh to one Skoda Octavia diesel, it had enormous very open wheels and very tiny brake disks that barely were bigger than center piece of those wheels, form certainly did not followed a function there :D

Anyway, it would be really great if people would have all information regarding changes before they make changes, there often are certain disadvantages that may overcome advantages.

Rub is a legality thing over here. if on full lock it hits the inner guard it fails. and I'm also after aesthetics as i don't do 150kph a lot.
