360 GLT 4 sAEL!!!

Following the 'incident' yesterday i am thinking of selling my 360 "some work required".

just had timing belt change 204k. 4 month old radiator!! (make require attention).

I drove straight through a STOP sign and into the back of a car driving at 90 degrees to me. There is some controversy because as i fully accepted the blame once i got out of my car and saw the stop lines i said to her "i just had no idea there was a stop sign" Later i look and it turns out the stop sign has been bent behind a powerpole.

Anyway, i saw her coming with 2-3 metres to spare hit the breaks at 40-50 in the wet and got the back quarter/door, sent her spinning down the road for about 30 metres and my car continued forward about 5-10 metres spinning around.

All are ok.

I think teh volvo did a pretty good job absorbing the impact, only 1 panel is dmaged (front left ) well basica..y

the radiator is busted, the headlights, the bumper obviously. the car drives fine apart from overheating obviously.

it has 4 early glt spoked rims.

I reckng it willc ost 1k to fix myself.. but maybe this car justbeen in too many accidents.

Ill get a photo sometime (maybe some months)
if anyone is interested please let me know, im in melbourne Australia.

the interior is good and the motor was running well.

I havnt been altogether happy with this car, i think having such a weak rear axle is very poor design, but i may buy another one.

I dont really want a car, but i need 4 work

bye!.

By the way, i am serious about this, ive spent alot of time working on this car, the damage isnt really THAT bad but i dont think it makes for a good long term car. I said to myself.. this will be the last car i buy.. unless im an idiot and crash it.

Its a prety straight car besides the dented panel. If you're after parts etc, make me an offer as a last resort.

Thanks

Right now, im thinking of fixing back on the road.

Glad everyone is ok. Looks like the sign being bent behind a pole needs to be brought to the attention of the authorities and taken into consideration by your insurance company and the police if they were involved. Good luck what ever you decide for the future of the car.

I have organised to have the pole fixed and also have sent a letter explaining the incident to the (i forget what its called) road hazards place? I dont expect to get anymoney back, but it would be great.

850$ excess on teh other car and im now writing mine off because buying the parts from volvo wreckers is miles to expensive. 800~$ from one place 1100~$ from another. and then it would look bodged. All it needs is a radiator (125$) to be happily driven about. but not roadworthy.

The engine is good.

Please show some interest :|, I have just bought another 360 and mymoney is really gone. Theres gotta be some demand for these parts, its basically all fine except the front right hs guard and bonnet. bonnet is still straight, good for cutting scoops or whatever.

4 alloys

*sigh*

unleaded.

Its really not that far from getting fixed up, but because of the rediculous prices of 2nd hand parts i just cant do it. 450$ for a bumper???

But because of lack of demand for 360 the wreckers will give me 100$ if im lucky

makes me think that UK or NL parts, _INCLUDED_ shipping to AU, will be cheaper!!!!!! what a f#€&ing ripoff to ask more than the car's worth for these parts. you could also try to find a knackered one for a small price, and take the parts you need (and some spares) from it.

here in NL, a bumper would cost like 50 AU$ max....
radiator, same story
two side panels, less than 100

aircon condenser will be a tougher find (guess thats broken too?)

Greetings Wouter

That's EXPENSIVE indeed!

If you are scrapping it and the AC is still working, I'm interested...

the aircon would probably be from a mk2 dash..

its build date is 86, the aircon radiator is busted, being that it is in front of the radiator. But aircon was working before accident. My new 360 has a different dash instrument panel and its an 86 too.. but slightly earlier. (cigarette lighter under fan vents instead of at windscreen buttons..)

Does anyone know if the aircon radiator is a unique 300 part or is it just a simple small radiator?
Plenty of AC radiators on scrapyards I think, the compressor is found on 940's and 740's I believe, what else do I need for an AC apart from the other radiator in the heater box?

I have a picture!
