Econometer on Volvo 360 GLT B200E

Post by Volvo 360 GL B200K »

I have an econometer on my '89 v 360 glt, with the injection engine, and comparing the movement of the econometer needle between the injection and non-injection 2.0 models, the differance is Vast!! When you blip the throttle of the injection engine the needle zooms to the red extremity, where the non-injection is much more progressive similar to the rev counter! I havent had chance to take the glt out for a long run, so i dont know what its like when cruising! I believe the fast movement of the econometer needle to be due to the faster intake of air of the 2.0i and the air flow meter!? However i'm not to sure, anyone shed any light??

Cheers

i've spoken to james about this - his carb one is very quick compared to mine - mine moves at about the speed of the fuel gauge at startup.. or maybe the speedo over 90mph.. ie not very quick at all.. could be the piping maybe?

They may be a bit slow, but to be honest, i learned to drive on one, and compared to other cars new drivers were driving, the engine sounded SWEET!

it came with the car.. i dont think its origional - looks like the heading behind the dash was for a gear change light. having said that, the anti tamper screw was still in place. my cars very odd anyways..

where does it run off? theres a T piece in the bit of hosing that connects the carb to the top of the engine casing (crank case breather tube??) and its run off that.

To run my econometer on the b200k, i tapped into the heater recirculation pipe, but you have to be sure to put the T-piece between the carb and the one-way valve, not between the valve and heater controls! If in the wrong place, the econometer will not return to its origonal position!

Mark,

I've got a pint on it that the gauge in your GL is knackered - they are very delicate and break easily. It should move pretty damn fast - I'll show you if you come to the national show.

cheers
