we have had a lot of discussion here about icing of carbs with the k and n filters , but has anyone ever tried a speedograph filter , would be interesting to know if they cause the same problems heres a link

Anything that doesn't use a hot air feed pipe is going to cause it im pretty sure, iv got a universal cone filter attatched to the housing and it happened with that in the winter, warm enough to get away without a hot air feed in this weather but come the summer i'll have to make a hot air feed for it, only way to go is to get a more free flowing filter element or build a new hot air feed system for a different type of filter,
cheers

I just thought because the k and n is about three inches high and the speedograph only 1 inch high their would be less cold air blowing across the top so it , err , wouldnt be so cold and , err, wouldnt ice up , just wishfull thinking I guess

Because they are that low less air wil enter... les power will exit... But the air will be just as cold...

actually that setup will be fine because its ALWAYS sucking in hot air from the engine bay - there is no cold air intake..

Hopefully it is cold enough... it is on the cold side of the enginebay and there is quite a lot of airflow in there when driving.

Haha, I was thinking about your car and wondering about that the other day James, any ideas on how to cure it if you do get freezing? Ive made up a pipe for mine that i can gaffer tape on for when it does happen this winter lol,

I'm working on the basis that it is indeed shrouded by the semi-enclosed nature of the engine bay. We'll have to wait and see really...

I measured it 60kph and above engine bay is same temp as outside air, at least summertime.
Thing could be different if bottom of engine bay would have that plastic cover.
