340 redline

Good morning,

I'm very proud of my new Redine.
It is so good as new and it runs very well.

My questions: Why are there blind caps on the front bumper?
My other 340DL 1,4 has ventilation slots. I want to know if I can change it because one blindcap is missing.

The idle sometimes is too low. When I start the car again it is ok. What can this be?

I search for decor stripes for the front wings.

Thanks and best regards

Matthias from Germany :340:

Is your 1.4 a Vario? The vents were there to channel air through the chassis rails to the CVT. Yes, they are interchangable on my86 onwards.

@Chris: The Redline sounds like a manual that has lost a bumper blanking cap.

@Matthias

Blanking caps / grilles are Interchangeable. They are handed.

Here's a picture I robbed earlier of a MT car with AT bumper vents fitted.

Good Morning from Germany,

here are the first promised pics of my redline. I am very happy that I have bought it. It runs fantasticly. After the buy I have changed the tooth belt and this was important because the tension rollers was very old and rusted. Some smaller repairs like the car boot lock, the fan resistor and the end silencer were necessary.

Some pics:

New Project: After checking the piston of my white 340DL Vario I decided to repair the engine and improve the car during the winter.

Very nice! Congratulations on finding a redline like that over here in such good condition ...

Cheers

Tom

PS you might want to remove the "green sticker" before going to the TÜV ;-)

Hi, interesting reading your posts. I have just bought a vario and with 'rusted pulleys. I am determined to try and remove the rust projections and thoroughly sand smooth, not worried about any pitting.
Have you any experience of doing this ? Thanks, Fred

i have put it away in a garage because of the "Umweltzone" in Germany. It has no kathalysator.
But now it is back and in May 2018 it will get the "h" Kennzeichen.

in some citys the government, teached by the EU, created the "umweltzone" only for cars with kathalysator. They think that it is really useful, but the last years it didn`t change the emission. When they startet the "umweltzone" in our city, I couldn't drive with the redline. So I have bought a 940. Butnnow I decided to restart the 340 to drive around the country.
