Has anyone got a scrap manual 340 gearbox which they are going to throw away by any chance. I need the cover from the diff for my car. It has rusted and weakened just below the filler plug and now it is leaking a little. I imagine that I will need to remove it and then solder or weld it up but obviously a good second hand one would be the easiest option.

The most common issue is for the cover to get bent where some ATS / Quickfit numpty has jacked the car up on the diff. If you can weld then best to take it off and weld up the hole. Make sure you get yourself a gasket kit first ready for refitting
