Volvo 340 transport problem

I've got a question for the enthusiasts in the UK.
If one needs to transport a car (SORN) long distance (UK to Belgium), can anyone recommend me a transporting company?
I can't give any details yet as I am at present doing the studywork, but looking at google maps it would be a one-way trip of 700-750 km.
Driving the car itself is no option for various reasons.

Any suggestions?

Really depends where you are starting from plus whether the car will drive onto the transporter or not.

Richard,

Yes the car can be driven on a transporter.
As for region you should be thinking Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk

Should of just said "East Anglia" then

As it can be driven onto a transporter, then that helps a lot as many transporters aren't interested in shifting something that involves a lot of messing around trying to load.

Last time I shifted a V300 to Ireland, I touted the job on shiply.com. Fortunately, I was able to decipher the username of one of the offers and contacted them direct for a better deal.

I have used Shiply (http://www.shiply.com/) in the past, it's a forum where drivers bid for transport jobs. I did put my collection from Sittard on there and got some decent responses. It's worth putting the job on there to see what prices you get.

In the end though, I decided that the most satisfactory solution was to hire a van and drive over to get it myself, as that would enable me to see the car first and I had to sort out the Dutch export papers in person.

If it's vaguely near me, I'm happy to assist with meeting a driver on your behalf.

I've seen somewhere transporters that go out empty (if they can't help it) to repatriate insurance jobs.

No experience of them, but try asking:

Transcars Ltd in Essex +44 1708 320666
Carlson Vehicle Transfer Essex +44 1255 871600

They both say the do Euro work. It will give you a ball-park figure anyway of what it'll cost to do it properly. Some cheap outfits are just waiting to pulled in by VOSA and dragged over the coals.

Must be a fantastic find to go to all that trouble

I'd just fly/drive if it works and run the gauntlet to port!

Is it the 340 that's done just over 100 hundred miles from new?

No typo I actually mean circa 130 miles.

I might be able to do something to help with the transport side. What is the time frame for moving the car?
