Sorry for all the posts and questions, but i was driving along today mindong my own business, came to a stop and all of a sudden a loud high pitch squeal started from the engine bay. I know its not the alternator belt splipping as its a completely different sound to that. My squeal.gets louder and quieter the faster/more revs you give it. Im thinking maybe the water pumps giving up but the temp doesn't go above half and there's no sign of a leak or it using water up.

help?

Probably its the distributor cap that needs replacing. Any power-steering belts to tighten??

What car/engine?

Could it be an oil issue, crank/cam bearings?

Its an e reg 340 1.7 gl. Its definately coming from the front of the engine, its like a "wurling" noise as such.
