We are the proud owner of a very reliable volvo 340 1.4 (1990 120k miles) and have invested in a new car stereo. Now, I need to get the old stereo out without damaging the dashboard!
Unfortunately, the car stereo manual does not give infomation and my local volvo garage was not very helpfull too.
Does somebody maybe have an idea on how to remove the VC608 philips/volvo car stereo from its dashboard?
your suggestestions are very welcome....

IIRC at the extreme ends of the stereos fascia there shold be two vertical plastic strips , carefully prize these out and the fittings will be seen behind them,

Yeah, that's right. You'll need one of those stereo removal tools (or I seem to recall that I used four jeweller's screwdrivers).
When we got Sausage she had a broken VC-608, so I took the CR-3001 out of Affie. At least I knew that no-one was going to break in and steal the stereo!

VC-608!
There are plans to put something else in, though.
I was happy to have the old radio in Sausage as...
1. No-one would want to steal the radio
2. No-one would want to steal the car
...so I could leave it parked in all kinds of mad locations and not worry.
I wouldn't want to park the Redline in those sorts of places - somewould would at least make off with the alloys

Bring them to our local gangland chav estate and chain them to a lamppost. I guarantee they'll be gone in the morning.
