Gearbox help needed

Post by bogbasic »

I am trying to fit the gearbox cover plate back onto a 360 with the gearbox still on the car but lowered enough to get at it. The problem is that the gear selector plate has come off and its not obvious how to fiddle it back to fit onto the arms and pegs etc inside the gearbox.

Does anyone know if this is a difficult job and how to make it easier.

All clues very much appreciated indeed.

has it actually disconnected within the gearbox, and not elsewhere? what makes you come to that conclusion?

Hello, yes its definitely loose - in fact its sitting in the boot right now because I removed it. I had to remove the gearbox cover plate because the oil filler plug broke off and it will need to be drilled out of the cover plate at a friendly workshop. Whilst trying to clean up the gearbox flange, the selector plate....er...shall we say....came away. The car was working perfectly before I started all this.
