I may sell my brand new one...
With the 2 brand new gauges (oil temp + pressure) + never used & genuine wiring + new senders...
(I realize that I never look so low under the dash when driving, I will never look at them...)

I just glance at the oil temp to make sure it's safe to engage the VTEC y0!
cheers

Oil temps the boring one.... you can tell if the engines warm as idle oil pressure goes down to half a bar... then you can engage VTEC y0! and watch pressure rise (and sometimes even the road)

TO half a Bar?....sure you don't mean BY half a Bar? Anything less than 2 Bar hot idle oil pressure isn't healthy.

Nah... too half a bar. 3k hot, and cold idle is around 4.5bar, hot idle is 0.5-1bar.
*runs to check in Russek*
Hmm, Russek thinks it should be 1.5-2.5 kg/sq cm at 800rpm, 1 kg/sq cm is 0.98 bar, so mine looks like it's going a bit low.
4.0-4.5 kg/sq cm at 3k, which is what I'm getting. I'll double check figures later... but don't get how it would be lower than it should at idle and not rev'd... if it was the oil pump, surely both would be lower? I'll put this to the engine questions section

If this isn't a stupid question, are you sure your sender is matched to your gauge, as your gauge is a (relatively unusual) 10 Bar one, right? I guess that would actually work the wrong way though (ie: read too high!)
On a redblock that hasn't done silly mileage, it's usually the seal on the main pickup pipe which has popped out partially. If it's high mileage, it's usually just wear - with the (relatively large) gap between bearings and their seats making it easy for oil to flow out...ie: low pressure.
Agreed that 1 Bar is ok, but much lower than that and you're in trouble. The 'engine death' oil pressure warning light comes on at 0.5 Bar. My B200 hot idles at 3 to 3.5 Bar at 138k. Wierdly, the cold idle dropped from 5 to 4-4.5 when I swapped the cam. I must re-do that job some time!
cheers
