Wheel nuts and gauges

Has anyone got a spare set of wheel nuts for alloys wheels (are nuts for steel wheels even different?)? Some of mine are a bit bent and its difficult to get a socket on them.

Also I'll be after some gauges soon - 3 of them to be exact. I'm thinking a voltmeter, oil pressure and oil temp would be handy to have. And then, I'll obviously need a pressure sender and a temp sender. I'm keeping an eye out on ebay, but if anyone has anything spare, let me know!

Cheers

They are indeed different, Chris was on the look out for alloy wheel nuts for ages, the stumbled across a whole set I believe after building up a set of odd ones, so depending on how many you need, he might have an odd one or two. I don't remember the wheel nuts on Fioner being that bad TBH. Are you using a different breaker bar than the poor effort Volvo supplied as a wheelbrace/jack handle combined?

As for gauges, a word with the resident Gauge Guru mr FoggyJames may be required, but there are some of the more common ones on Ebay, such as Volts.

I can indeed supply gauges. US Ebay is indeed a good source, but make sure it comes with the oil pressure sender (£45+ new), and the OPG is a 5 bar one, not a 3 bar one. If you're ever below 3 bar on an NA B200, I'd be surprised!

I was using a breaker bar and socket, and you can see some of the nuts are slitghly out of shape. Probably from using the crappy volvo wheelbrace. I can get them all done up, but have to be careful not to make them worse. Just an annoyance really!

I've seen a few 240 gauges on ebay in the US, but have never bought anything off there. Is there any problems getting it shipped over here with customs and stuff? I'll see how I go, but I may be talking to you soon Mr Foggy Sir :)

Not at all - you don't get taxed below a certain threshold, so you can ask the seller to be a little kind :D I can probably get one of my Tbricks brothers to hook you up.

I have everything you need bar the oil temp gauge. A word to the wise...look at UK ebay at the moment...you may just see what you're looking for ;) PM me if you can't find it.

cheers

Might be able to get you a set of alloy wheel nuts - if I can find some crappy spares to swap them with onto the black GLT

Saving Steve the postage, I think I have some here I can bring to the pub next time, somewhere in the piles of stuff I have a set, + at least 8 I think... I need a set minus 4 for Kar, so there should be enough to go round.

Steve, that's not to mean you can scrap your ones!!! Get some steels from a scrappy and swap them before you do anything, you know they are a mission to get hold of ;)

Carl, I'll also check see if I have any gauges going spare, I don't think I do. I found my gauge holder from fleabay, if you decide you get bored of the stereo ;)

Cheers Chris that sounds ideal!!

And I've already ordered a gauge holder to replace the stereo :)

James,

I'm after the sender for the oil temp - have you got a spare or can you send me in the right direction for one - my local stealership can't help ! It replaces the sump plug, doesn't it ?

Wrt the oil pressure switch (which I have), it seems very tight on the block there - is it an alternator out job as can't get the spanner in !

Cheers,

You could take the alt out. I bought a Britool 24mm deep socket from eBay especially to get the switch out, and stuck that on the end of the ratchet. Make sure you do the sender up tight, as mine started leaking after about a year.

Would the Volvo part number help for the temp sender? Maybe try another dealer? It does indeed replace the sump plug. I don't have a spare, sadly. You may find you can get a generic one, then an adaptor to fit the sump plug thread.

cheers

I've now acquired an oil pressure gauge and sender, oil temp gauge and sender, and voltmeter so all sorted now, but thanks for the offer!

Where did you get the oil temp parts from ? Did they have anymore ?

Thanks,
