Leaky carb

Post by DeKayDAD »

Noticed a fuel leak just before dark so haven't got to the exact source yet. it seems to be from the accelerator pump area on the infamous solex, only leaks with throttle open. has anyone had this problem before. :?

sounds very much like the accel pump diaphram has split, then every time you open the throttle a small amount of fuel is forced through the diaphram, then it will leak out the vent hole in the cover. if you cant buy a diaphram easily, you could get one out of nearly any solex carb down the scrappers. hope that helps :D

Fettled, It was the diaphragm. A bit fidddly to do on the car but better than breaking all the seals I suppose. Many thanks HR.
