Tilt/Slide Metal Golde Sunroof

Talking of a sunroof:
I have the infamous golde unit:
It does not leak and the noise is not bad (if I stay under 100mph (which I do naturally)).
However - it slides but it will not tilt as I can't move the switch over into position, I am guessing this is a common problem. Steve if your dad is the expert can you ask for advice as I would love it if my sunroof would tilt as well as slide.

Does the switch not even go if you jiggle it a bit? I've had a couple of these apart now, all working

, from what I can remember you can't just replace the unit with the handle and switch, you have to do the cables too. There might be a way of taking the unit away from the cables, which would do the trick for you, either replace with another of see whats wrong with yours.
Beasts used to be awkward to get into tilt from slide, but jiggle both the switch and the winding handle and it would go

Winding handle is fine, tried everything with the switch but it's a no go, I don't want to replace it. I wanted to know if there is something obvious that I can look at and possibly fix.

There's a lock-out which prevents you moving the switch if the mechanism isn't in the right position. It's pretty much bound to be that...

What would be broken in mine because I can open and tilt it always. The switch doesn't have any effect on how the roof works..

Does someone have repair/maintainance instructions for that system because it would be nice to get it working. Seals in mine are kinda worn too.

You can actually take the cables out seperately, if you remove the plastic runner blocks. But it's all a major PITA. On my old GLT I had everything out and replaced it with a working one, couldn't see any difference, but it worked afterwards. The swap from tilt to slide was a jiggle affair to make it swap, but I never used slide, as the rear never dropped and was close to getting scratched on the top if it was right back. The reason mine came out was due to it not closing completely and the back was flapping about, as the top of the plactic blocks had broken off, so the rear of the roof was free to rise or fall as it wanted.

Hmm, this seems to be getting more difficult by the second
