Whats a GLS?

Ive just seen a mint A reg 340 or 360, but not a 240 GLS at my local tip (the guy who owns it works there) are they a particulary rare or hi spec model?

I cant think of ever having seen a 240 GLS only DL-GL-GLE and GLT

GLS, doesn't that stand for GL- special? We have a few 360 GLS's in holland.

I think Dai's right - AFAIK GLS wasn't a 200 series spec level... at least not in this country. Maybe it's a bit of personalised badge engineering, like Adam's 340 GLT!

We had an '83 240 GL estate from brand new and there was no mention of GLS in the handbook for that (I read it many times when stuck in the car).

The only GLS I know of are the 360 gls.

Been a long time since I last seen one but I thing there is a red band in the centre of the letters, could be wrong.

Our family used to have a mk2 360 GLS with a 2 litre carb. I never got to drive her as she failed the MOT before I could drive. We took her to a local car auction and some guy bought her hoping to do her up. Dunno what happened, but unfortunatly I havn't spotted her since

I wish I knew about V3M back then, someone may have been interested. Unfortunatly the undrside had rust issues, and I believ it was the sills that failed her, but there could have been more, I can't remember

I'll be doing the same to 'PeeWee' my 240 estate, she'll be a an ex GL, soon to be a 245 GLT Special,

I meant 340 GLS, dont know where the 240 came from. Ive just read all the puzzled posts regarding a rogue 240 GLS, my mistake! I must be punished. Im going outside to drop a car battery on my foot.

Saying that, I only saw the front of the car.. so it could be a 360....

Ive got a heavy duty diesel battery somewhere..

If its a GLS 300 it will be a 360.. pre 1985.. nothing that special toy wise, but nice cars

Its not actually for sale...
but you know, wave a fist full of dollars under the blokes nose.... everythings for sale!

It looks like its been kept in very good condition, so the owner must be a bit of a volvo fan.
