Nah.. Real men run custom designed turbos. :P When building a serious race engine, truck turbos aren't so good because pressure maps are designed for huge diesels. :P Best situation would be when turbo is made for engine and not just picked from somewhere. There are many shops which will build such turbo as you want when you give them detailed engine specs and aimed power figures etc...

Of course in normal use those are not so important but with HiPo-engines custom turbo is the way to go. sm37

I'm sure a custom turbo would be better....possibly much better...but would it be 10x the price better...?

cheers

ebay is great, most t3 and t4 stuff will swap (about 75% of it). so its just a metter of the right auction, and putting it together. my cold side was a diesel t4 (6.5l) but the map was right for my taget hp(ebay 45 usd, cracked ex housing). bolted that onto a ported water cooled volvo 63 trim (50 bux at the scrappy), and voila, perfect maps, cheap, and cool.

Well it's not always about engine size either.

http://www.oksanentuning.com/id639.htm

That's a B200ET block with stronger rods and some minor stuff but nearly stock. It pushed out near 400hp and it was his temporary engine in his daily driver. :P

There are different ways of creating power. :)

Foggy yeah I was talking about race engines or some streets engines with too much cash invested in them... I wouldn't choose custom turbo either because I couldn't currently afford one.

It makes me sad to look those pics in that page because there's so much fun stuff which I can't afford...

http://www.oksanentuning.com/id713.htm

That's a Quarter Master multiplate racing clutch. 1220nm is specified max torque handling.. It is going in his 242L which will handle his daily drives if not in winter but in summer at least.
