740 GLT 16v - rare?

I've never seen one before, but I've been looking at new cars with my g/f and spotted one at a garage when looking at another car. If I had the money I'd be tempted to buy it as its only £595 - use it for a while then nick the engine! Unfortunately I've been spending far too much money recently and am currently in talks about another car anyway so definately cant afford it.
Just curious as to how rare they are? Is it something I'll be kicking myself about in time to come because I had the chance to get hold of one?

It's the Ft engine.

Aspirated... well we hate does things here
Actually we don't have aspirated Volvo's here, except for the S40 1.6/1.8 and XC90 V8

In my local yard Carl I spotted both a 740 Turbo, and a 16v. So I was on the phone to Foggy there and then to check I had the right models of interest. The turbo also had leather which I don't believe was normally available, but they didn't want to sell the head only, the whole engine for £100, or the whole car. I believe the 16v's are quite rare though mate. Forgot to quiz Foggy as to how sought after the engines are, as I'll be going back at some point maybe!

It does fit, but with a bit of modding ! Wouldn't mind one in mine as they are a cracking engine, as I had a 940 one for a short while !
Cheers,
John.

It's only rare-ish because they only made them for 2-3 years. They made plenty of them in that time, but they're never going to be as common as 8v heads.
cheers
