Just looking at some manifolds for the twin carbies I'm getting obsessed with.
There's 2 options - a short one and a long one, both of which can be seens here:

Whats the pros and cons of each one? I'll probably be using 40s if that makes a difference.

i think it depends what carbs/trumpets/filters you use ,theres not too much room......see below ;

your be better off with the short ones they do, because that will give you more room in the engine bay for the air filters.

In performance wise, long ones give bit slower response and more torque, with short ones faster reaction and more top end, but that may be as much as impossible to measure with arse, but this is what it is in theory and what rally ppl has been telling.

Giving the roadies a miss?-or are they a r sport dealer accessory

Well most events round my way run on navigational permits so technically I could get away with it if the organisors are ok with it. Plus club 12 cars are fine. It just means I wont be able to do proper road rallies (unless I use the Manta), but I'm fine with that. Just wanna go out and have a laugh
I spose you could argue the dealer accessory with the carbs, but the extra engine capacity might cause an issue

For goodness sake make sure you fit air filters. Running open trumpet doesn't gain you measurable power, but will gum up your rings pretty damn quickly. The only application where it's 'safe' is high-level competition usage, where the engines are rebuilt after very limited usage.

and fit good ones !! not those crappy foam ones that set on fire easy
the alpha air boxes are ideal[maybe fiat ones too but i'm not 100%] if you find one and get the carbs too !!!!

£40 my brother got his for and got £140[ish?] on ebay for them - not bad for 30 mins work. buckets of sh1t and roses spring to mind.........

The crappy foam ones that set on fire easily
Except they don't. Another urban myth with sidedraft carbs, like the Solexs being shite. Mine have been saturated with fuel, and the enigne fires forwards all the time (damn you tuning, you win this time), but a almost year later they're still there...touch wood
cheers

I'd definately be using a proper airbox, none of this foam nonsense as it wouldn't be good drving through water/mud!!
Might have got my dirty mits on some Dellorto DLHA 40s....
