Thought you might like a look of my 1.7 340 DL. One owner, clean condition (as I hope you can see) and a long MOT. Brought as a replacment for my Granada estate (no laughing at the back). It was found on e-bay and was brought for £77. Cheap motoring! :D

This is my second 340. My first, a gold four door 1.7 GL, was nicked. :(

Along the way there have been lots of 240's a 260 and by far the best a 960. It did however have a serious drink problem! Never had a 7.

Back to my current 340. Things I've fitted are spot lights, CD player and dog guards. To date I've done just over a 1000 miles in about 8 weeks.

Mine looked like that a long while ago!!!
I saw that on the bay and had thoughts of buying it as its the same as mine and i was spending stupid amounts on paintwork!!!
It is by far the best colour i reckon!!!!

Back in the 80s I did some work for a guy who had one stolen.

But consider:
  • It was quite new
  • He used to leave it parked with the window open
  • He used to leave it parked with the key in
There was a time when I wouldn't have minded having my first one nicked (the insurance payout would have bought me a nicer one  ). One day I accidentally left the keys in the door and someone (who I had never seen before, nor have ever seen since) came to my house and gave them back to me.

Oh yes, nice car Bob! Redline could have sold you some alloys that would have looked smashing on it, but he no longer has them.

Thanks for the replies. The story of my first 340 being nicked is not that simple.

Were I use to live the car was parked overnight on a McDonalds car park. They were fine with this and indeed a number of people did it.

However during this period England were playing sombody at football and came second! I assume that somebody watching said match drowned there sorrows and then looked for somthing to eat. McD's were closed so he /she decided to have a go at the "staff" cars.

My 340 was first in line and got a good kicking. It was very badly damaged, write off.

The next day I went to work intending to take out my CD player, CD's etc that night. By the time I got back from work it was gone. It had been taken during the day by a tow truck never to be seen again. The staff working in McD's thought I had sorted it to have it moved so took no notice. All this was filmed (badly) on CCTV.

Sorry to bore you all!

I will take some more pictures of my current 340 soon.

Bloody football fans - shoot the lot of them! By the way, if anyone even THINKS of flying England flags on sticks from their windows, I will glue a tape of Hugh extolling the virtues of Mondeo ownership into your tape player! Glueing up the CD slot is also an option if you haven't blown your ICE budget on flags sm56 sm56 sm56

Clean car there Bob! Looking forward to seeing it (and you) at a meet. Do you think you might be able to make the one on the A50 just south of Derby next weekend?

cheers
