yet another request by me!!! i was told by a certain someone(not off here) that constant wheel spinning etc can be bad for the prop/ drive shaft...as i can sheer of slines when a certain bolt comes loose after being rattled about from wheelspins etc... i must know is this complete b*llocks, or i there some truth in what he was saying??? and if it is so true is there a way to stop it, if i do end up with a R5 powered 340 then i imagine there would be a reasonable amount of horsepower resulting in wheelspin and the occasional small drift!!! as ever any help would be greatly appriciated.
cheers

prop shaft/drive shft info...
yeah, its pretty much true. Constant sharp starts and wheel spinning will put a very high strain on the propshaft, which, in reality is only a hollow tube crimped onto the connectors with rubber doughnuts. You would really wanna go for an uprated solid propshaft. Ali's posted information on this in the other thread.
Also one other thing to bear in mind, the rear diff doesn't respond well to one wheel spinning up in the air all the time, it'll wear it out very quickly, although the odd drift should be OK.

Yeah if going turbo with 340 with Renault engine, a custom propshaft is a must. Stock one which comes with 340s with Renault engines can be broken with stock power too so it's not too strong.. 300-series with Volvo engines then have much stronger torque tube type drivetrain but I don't know if it would fit with Renault engine. Custom propshaft is less work too I guess.
Huskyracer had a custom propshaft made for his 1.7 turbo. There are some pics http://www.huskyracer.50megs.com/
