I'm a lucky git!
Well peole I picked up a free 240 GLT saloon on a B reg last night from the VOC just outside of Lincoln, and guess what....
She has the extra gauge (oil temp, pressure, volts, ambient temp) panel and the volvo sound speakers, all she failed the MOT on is brake discs and pads, and some rust.
everything works aswell!
Right the questions start now....
1) What engine should be in her as she is injection, it looks like a B230E with a silver engine cover on, is this a retro fit
2) will the suspension come off it and go onto my later 89 F reg model?
3) Can I wire up the electric mirrors and rear windows into my GL estate?
4) does anyone want anything from her?
Thanks all!!!

Erm, I've lost my keys again...
I'm guessing it has a B23 as you say it has a silver cam cover, if it was black it'd be a B230E with only 131bhp. The B23E is pracically unburstable and should give Tulip some much needed get up and go! Are you still after a 5spd box? I have an M47 lurking about, but not the crossmember, prop or other bits. It came from a 740.

Thanks Rupert, I still have the M47 I stripped from the silver GLT I had, but I'm not to sure of the condition as I didn't drive it for long, so if you wouldn't mind I'll keep that offer in mind as I have all of the rest of the bits to fit it into the 240.
I should be able to 'JUST' drop the silver top engine in and plug in the injection system shouldn't I?

Yeah I thought it'd b e a B23E too by the silver cam cover, but I thought B23E's were earlier? Veru strong engine anyway...
Also, do you mean using the 2.0 ECU and loom for the B23? I'd not go down this route if you have a complete donor car available - just use all the electronics from the 2.3. Although I may have taken what you wrote wrong!

1984 was the change over year for the 240 so it is possible it could have had either.SteveP wrote:Yeah I thought it'd b e a B23E too by the silver cam cover, but I thought B23E's were earlier? Veru strong engine anyway...!
Definatley use the B23E's ECU as it has more agressive maps for both fuel and ign.SteveP wrote:Also, do you mean using the 2.0 ECU and loom for the B23?
