Sunroof wind deflector

Post by Fuse »

I mounted the wind deflector I bought some time ago. It seriously lowers the wind noise at highway speeds but somehow I'm not sure yet if I like the appearance.. :P

Well I'll keep it for awhile now as I'm about to do ~500km trip to our summerhouse at monday so it will be much nicer to drive when there's no wind noise coming from the sunroof. :P

Maybe I'll leave it there, I'm not sure yet.

I agree - doesn't look quite right, even if it is useful!

I like it better with the deflector. I have one myself.

Why not get it coded, that would make it less unsightful if thats what you feel.

I would have on my old GLT definitely had one of these to reduce the noise, however my current GLT is so quiet where the sunroof is concerned that I wouldn't bother at all. It's all down to the adjustment, a slight lip sticking up at the front and you'll get noise, if anything the back should be slightly raised and the front slightly below, however with my old roof this was not possible!

Just think of it as a back to front snowcap! I think it'll grow on you, if not only for the quiet ride!

Yeah my sunroof isn't in such a good shape.. :P The seal is knackered and the mechanism would need a lot of adjustment. There's something broken too, as the little vent-open switch doesn't do anything. Roof will work to both directions no matter which position you set the switch. I'm going to take the panel of some day and take a look.

It's a hood scoop made out of a snowcap. I didn't cannibalize the snowcap, it has been there always. Car was turboed at the dealer when new so I guess it's been there from since.

Hood wouldn't fit to close without it as the boost pipe/plenum would hit the hood.. :P Well it keeps the engine bay cooler too.
