Coolant fluid flow in water-tank. B172K 1.7

Hi.

I seem to remember that there was a steady flow of coolant fuild comming from the engine-area via one/two small hoses to the water-tank.
One of the hoses is used to cool/heat the carburettor.

Recently, there have been no water circulating there on my 1.7l. Is it supposed to be?

yes, the small hose that connects to the reservoir at the point closest to the bulkhead is supposed to give some fluid flow at elevated RPM (2000 rpm?)

is there enough fluid in the reservoir?

on my 1.7, the reservoir had been changed. the connecting point had not been opened, so no flow was possible. I only noticed this when I had fitted another engine in the car and wanted to bleed the cooling system.

on 1.4 and 2.0 reservoirs, the connection is there but its plugged as well. to prevent a hose being connected, 2 plastic extensions are cast on the outside of the connection.

on my 1.7 apparently some dummy cut off the extensions, but failed to open up the connection itself.

hah, I actually replaced the water reservoir..... because there was a leak in the original one. I got another one from a 1.4l I think.

There were those plastic extensions, which I cut of......but, I haven't checked the connection itself. I'll do that later today.....might be interesting :)

Ok,
I checked it today, and it was the connection itself on the water reservoir-tank that was plugged.

Works great now :)

Thanks for the info!
