HELP - Removal of Sump Plug!!!

How do you remove the sump plug on a 300?
Do you have to use a special tool?

Just got the Batmobile up on ramps to do an oil change and noticed that the Sump plug has a sunken square in it!

I may be being stupid but what tool are you supposed to use for this , the end of a smallish ratchet fits but surely you dont use that!

Need to be cautious as previous owner appears to have rounded of square slightly so will probably have only one chance at getting it right!

use a 3/8 ratchet extension, you may need to use a 1/2 to 3/8 adaptor so you can use a long bar to get it moving if its seized on a bit.

Is this the way that this is supposed to be done, the ratchet feels very loose in the hole..... really dont want to round it off!

Is there a special socket available or is this the reccomended way of doing it?

I snapped an extension bar trying to do my sump plug (dunno if 360s are the same) so I bought a 12" 3/8" breaker bar - best £3.99 i ever spent....

yeah, they're all the same, and they're tight anyway, but the heat and previous spanner monkeys tighten them meaning they normally take a bit of releasing.

'Should' nicely fit a 3/8" drive ratchet, but as with so many things, a careless spanner monkey has probably bodged it up at some point.
