Back from Gumball.......... PICS!

Well...............................

Just got back from probably the best two weeks of my life.

Covered 12 countries in 7 days and drove some really exciting and scenic roads during the Gumball part of the trip.

Once we finished the gumball we stayed in a small town just along from Rijeka, on the North East coast of Croatia.

Stayed there for two days at the beach getting some well earnt rest and then we headed off via Slovenia to Modena in Italy.
We stayed in Modena for a night and spent the next day at the Ferrari and Lamborghini museums. (Even managed to blag a full tour of the Lamborghini factory) .

From there we drove cross country through some impressive scenery in Austria, where we managed to pick up a speeding ticket.....and then on to Germany to meet some of the other Gumballers at the famous Nurburgring!!

After an evening of beers by the fire and a day watching Mercs flying round the ring followed by a couple of laps of the almighty circuit as passengers in a friends car we drove the last stint to Calais nonstop yesterday evening , finally getting home at about 3 this morning.

Very pleasantly suprised at how well the Volvo (Batmobile) coped with the trip and enjoyed keeping up with some of the other faster cars in the rally not bad for £70!!. Only problems we suffered was a leaking fuel tank.... only leaks when full , and the exhaust snapping in two.

Here are a few pics, have taken hundreds but here is a selection:-

Odd.

We had exactly the same problem during Czechwrecks!

Coincidence more than anything, the 340 and 360 tanks are completely different.

Some great pics though - glad you had fun

Ours leaked when full or when we had the left side up on a kerb trying to stop the diff leak (probably 1/2 to 3/4 full at that point).

It was from right at the top where it "saddlebags" the propshaft. Wasn't around the filler entry as I could see that, it was higher up.

Nice pics chaps! Excellent in fact. If you'd like to enter the comp as Ronnie suggests, please do, that's a good pic! Looks like you had a great time and the 340 did well. Pete

There is one breather hose there and two fuel hoses with those no good fabric covered rubber hoses too in 360 Carb models.

We actually got fined twice, 1st time 100 Euros for doing 138kph in a 100 on this variable limit road...all very confusing.

We forgot to get a motorway toll sticker as well in Hungary and our whole convoy got fined 80 Euros.......reckon it went in policemans back pocket..
Small price to pay for the fun that we had!

A guy we met on the rally recently bought a volvo 480 and joined the owners club and after buying it for the rally got very attatched to it. Somewhere in Germany his mate was driving and changed from 5th to 2nd gear at about 95 mph........ resulting in a big bang and a dead volvo. He had to leave it in Germany in some woods. He was gutted.... wouldnt speak to his mate for two days.. gave him a lift from prague to Budapest.... he was wearing the VIN plate as a Medallion!! ha ha

I have entered the pic in the photo competition as a few of you have suggested

Cheers
