hi,im new on here, been talked into getting a 340 by a mate (stavros on here) so will be getting one before the end of the month, think 3dr, 200bhp r5gtt engine,VERY low and deep dish rims!!
ive had many performance cars in the past and am just about to sell my nova 2 litre 16v (excellent cheap fwd fun!) and the thought of an insanely cheap turbo rwd lightweight toy appeals greatly!
right,i have seen a link to a 340 or 360 5 door with a twin cam turbo motor doin 1/4 miles etc....but cant find it now anywhere on the net,any links to decent fast turbo'd 340s and 360s about anywhere?cheers lads and lasses

There are some quite fast 300-series, though it's a Swedish forum.

Elo mate.
200bhp wouldnt be hard, but wouldnt even need that TBH if totally stripped, instant response will be the biggest thing for fun.
My 167@wheels spec was pretty instant TBH, and knowing what i do now, i could easily improve that.
Main thing IMO is keeping a lid on the spending, i could easity spec up a 250bhp track weapon in no time, but thats when the spending and effort far outweigh the amount of fun back.
Wont ever be as fast as your 400bhp Saff, but what will be? lol.
Personally im sticking to as cheap as poss i can do it, under 1k inc buying the car, and should be awesome fun.
If i can work out where they pulley would go, ill run the M45 AND the T25 i got.
Need another trip to Buckies to look in the bays some more!

Cool project using the R5 engine though, it hasn't been done before so it'll be nice to see the end results and how they compare with the other options that have been taken so far 1.7 turbo/2.3 turbo

main reasons for the GTT lump for ME is i know it like the back of my hand.
its also much smaller, easier to access parts while in the bay, and prob lighter too.
if you have a clue (most places dont tho) the GTT carb is a tuners dream, and unlike most carbs its dead easy to tune, and obv far easier than messing with mapping and injectors etc.
stock bottomend is good for well over 200bhp and 30psi, so in my eyes more than powerful enough for a 340.
TBH i can see a 1.7 being easier for many, but for me, the 1.4 fitting is like a dream come true.

There are more pics of the Stange's 360 turbo. Not the prettiest one but it goes like hell.

It has gone 11s in quartermile. Volvo Redblock power.
