I always feel that it's very poor form to directly namecheck competitors, though obviously, you can see why they've done it, it just always leaves me feeling undersold, in a kind of "Hi, we may not be brilliant, but atleast we aren't as bad as those guys over there!" way

Is it just me?

No Volvo did this a lot in the 80's. Especially with the 300 series, i remember adverts for the 300 comparing it to the Ford Escort Equivalent showing how much more you got for your money with the volvo.

I would say that ALOT of manufacturers did this in the 80's, not just Volvo - wasn't there some regulations that came in in the 90's which stopped manufacturers from doing this?

Check this out for a laugh:

i remember that exact 300 advert. it was to try and banish the thoughts that the 300 was an expensive car (which it was).

bizarre that only the DRIVERS seat is heated!? i always thought it was both or nothing
