Scroll down to near the bottom Car 100
Restricted to 1400-no lsd allowed-no porting/balancing-Doesn't look the cheapest thing to enter but alot of competitive mileage.
Are 1.4 300's any good?I have no experience of them.
So what does a 1.4 kick out? surely must be 50 bhp and should rev ok -most Renaults seem to.Carl wrote:Unfortunately the 340 is left trailing behind by all the little hatchbacks that weigh sod all and have little revvy 100bhp engines! So probably woulnd't be too competitive, but should be a laugh at least!
This is that 340 BTW:

You may be correct but that single event alone has 4 days of competition mainly in the forests-so as to whether QH's best is upto the job is debatable-Chevette bilsteins-10 a penny.SteveP wrote:1.4 72bhp - suspension for 'em aren't that expensive

Yeah well-good riddence to those popping, banging, flame spitting tractors is my opinion-nowt better than N/A motor at full chat in the darkNick C wrote:For endurance rallies, it has to be NA, and as of 31/12/06, that rule is extended to cover all road rallies, supposedly to take out the noisy rice rockets.
For sale then?Nick C wrote:Unfortunately, it looks like the guys with the white 1.4 are going to retire it and replace it with a FWD tin can, having failed to finish both the Revival's they've attempted. Having spoken to the nav before, he is indded only abotu 15, and has built most of the car up himself, very impressive!
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for getting rid of the Rice Rockets, just the way they have worked the new rules seems a bit strange as it's also outlawed a lot of other, much less offfensive cars, such as DTurbos, 6-cylinder cars etc.sven360 wrote:Yeah well-good riddence to those popping, banging, flame spitting tractors is my opinion-nowt better than N/A motor at full chat in the dark
They are, yes. Obviously the father drives as his son isn't old enough yet! They have never seemed particularly competitive on the events I've seen them on, but they always seem to be having a really good time, which is, after all, what it's all about!sven360 wrote:Father and son combo are they not?
It's so stupid, I couldn't use Nat's 70bhp(?) Nova, but I could use an AE86 Corolla with a 240bhp VTEC engine , which IMHO has no place on a road rally. Would these rules also allow bike engines to get through? That would be very silly!Nick C wrote:Don't get me wrong, I'm all for getting rid of the Rice Rockets, just the way they have worked the new rules seems a bit strange as it's also outlawed a lot of other, much less offfensive cars, such as DTurbos, 6-cylinder cars etc.sven360 wrote:Yeah well-good riddence to those popping, banging, flame spitting tractors is my opinion-nowt better than N/A motor at full chat in the dark
