However, it's a shame about the GP B Maxis and the early R4? rwd-what a waste of proper cars

Who'd be a navigator?

I wonder, many seemed to have under damped suspension, maybe using gravel setup for tarmac or road suspension?

Also roll center have to be off on some cars as they flipped quite easily, it can't be that bad really?

Lot of LeCars wrecked in that video, hopefully nobody did not got hurt :)

its more oversprung than anything , you can see the spring rate is quite hard , thats because of the rear suspension design with torsion bars .

so setting them up for rallying was always a compromise

roll centers wouldnt cause them to turn over like that , the centre of gravity would .

Sure center of gravity is what makes car roll, roll center will make things worse if that is too high, roll center can increase or reduce tendency to roll depending from height.

Usually car is just lowered and springs are changed to stiffer, that creates roll center problem and much more (damping for example), in some cases such setup is even worse at limit than stock setup.

I can't help thinking that with stiffer dampers many of those crashes would not happened, when setting up suspension it should not bounce back, no matter how crap it will be in other aspects, but never ever it should not bounce back as that is very dangerous, much more dangerous than excessive over steering.

Any idea what that car is? It reminds me of Andy Burton's 306 Cossie (which is a fantastic car, even if it does bear a passing resemblance to a peugeot...)

Ah yeah seen that before, the R5 hitting that small wall where it bends the cage is naaasty, wonder if the link through to the front turrets helped or was the cause of the cage bending inside

I'm pretty sure that is a 205. Dimensions are about right, and I'm pretty sure they're ph1 rear lights like the T16 had. Looks like a T16 shell, with something like a 106 front end grafted on, and then a v12 chucked in the middle somewhere.

Whatever it is, I want a go!

I would say it has 405 dakar rally car front lights, maybe bonnet and other front panels too.

Back end is wrong as I think that is bit of hybrid, front wings, bonnet, lights and grille might have been sourced from that 405 dakar, rest is 205, maybe?

I thought 306 front lights, but maybe even thinner than that, definately 205 rears though!

I think this is the bad boy:

Looks like it's had a new front end since those pics, but I'm pretty sure that's the car.

3.6 litre v12 sourced from BMW apparently.[/img]
