V3M Photo Competition - Round 6 - Songs - Closes Feb 5th

The title is "Songs in the key of V" this time, usual rules apply (see next post), as long as the photo has some relevence to a song or songs then it's fine, I don't know what to do for the closing date, most of the previous ones have been somewhere in the region of 2 weeks long, I made mine much longer due to christmas, but as steve said
SteveP wrote: I think the extra time is better, more competition entries for the win...
However he did also say "I haven't really got any excuse not to enter this one :)" but still didn't bother ;)

So do people think that a slightly longer competition than the 2 weeks we usually have would encourage more entries, or do you thing it would make no difference, as people will still wait until the last day before emailing in their entries anyway?

Vote above for the closing date (you'e got a week to decide) and I'll edit the title to reflect the result

Title:
Songs in the Key of V

Everyone has imagination, this competition is here to get you exercising it. Winner of the comp will have the right to claim the title "Almighty Phototaking Dude", until time of the next round, when the title will have to be relenquished, and re fought.

The rules are more or less the same as they have been in other competitions, see below

*For this round you MUST include a title if it isn't blatently obvious!

*Send pictures to photos@dkirkham.com or contact me on MSN and I'll host them on my internets for the voting round.

*One entry per person.

*The photos can be any resolution, I will scale them down to a width of 640 pixels and link them to the full size versions (this is so pictures can be any orientation and any aspect)

*No major photoshopping, If a magazine editor would get away with it, then it's fine (colour levels, balancing, light airbrushing are ok but no sticking photos together and the like)

*Judging: a new thread will be made in General Discussion, vote for whoever you think is the best (be that your own or someone elses)

*Photos don't need to have been taken specifically for this competition, but don't enter ones we've had in other competition

*The photos in this round should be either self taken or contain your car...

*If it's not a 300 or atleast a volvo... it better be a REALLY good shot ;)

Good luck!

Well the feedback's been really helpful guys
Is there no interest in this anymore or something? Because if not it doesn't bother me, I've already said I probably wont be entering anyway

I think it's less about not being interested, and more, coming up with locations and finding the time. + in my case the car and camera are at home :P

Feedback in the lack of entries, or the poll? As I havn't seen a definitive when I need to get you a photo by date yet. The take up I've been quite happy with tbh, we've had some good shots come from this already, but as you say, it does need supporting to work.

That's exactly why I've asked if people want a longer time between setting and closing, I know that finding a convinient time and place isn't easy, but if people actualy want to take part and are struggling to find something then this is the time and place to say they'd prefer more time.
As I said, I'm not arsed when it finishes because I'm not going to enter.

I mean the poll, if only 3 people are going to enter then it's going to be a bit of a farce

Hmmm, I've sort of been struggling for ideas! I've got a couple of decent ideas, nothing spectacular, but difficult to choose between and create. Yeah, hope there are plenty in the pipeline!

I deliberately made it easy to get as many entries as possible, you can easily enter with a photo you've already taken, for example, if you wanted to use a picture with a boat in it, go on www.sing365.com and search for song titles with the word boat in it, you're almost certain to find something that would fit

Belle & Sebastian - Paper Boat
Take That - Wooden Boat
Ocean Colour Scene - The Riverboat Song

You see? You don't even have to go outside!
So far we have 1 and a half entries, and a maybe...
You have until midnight, and if there's still only 2 photos... you have until wednesday!
