Noises and Battery Light

Right. First of all... the noises, in running order:

When the engine is idling (below 1000rpm) I get a loud knocking regularly, sounds like the engine moving on the mounts but when the engine is off I've rocked the block and it moves the whole car. Any ideas?

When I take a left hander or go over a bump I get a 'groaning' noise from the front right had side of the car. Assume it's something to do with the suspension, just not sure what. Any ideas?

I get a combination of the above noises when I lift off in gear.

Lastly, when I'm in neutral and the car's at a standstill and I blip the throttle slightly when the rev's start to fall again I get a metallic vibration from the area underneath the front seats. Any ideas?

Battery Light:

While driving up to Milton Keynes from Portsmouth my battery light cam on while in traffic on the M25. The car continued to drive to MK fine, no hesitations. Once there we parked up and disconnected the battery to make sure. Once finishing I connected the battery properly again and started the car. Everything worked fine. Car drove all the way back to Portsmouth with no hesitations atall. Got a friends volt meter and tested the battery. Perfect 12volts. When the car's running and the alternators connected it's a perfect 15volts on the battery terminals. Light's stayed on the entire time. Any ideas?

Car is a B reg Volvo 360 Mk2 GLT.

Any advice greatfully recieved.

Thanks

Ben

Check clearance from the sump to the crossmember. The groaning is probably a worn bushing - quite likely the anti-roll bar.

As for the electrics...the battery lights confuse me. +15v is too high though, so perhaps a dodgy regulator is to blame for the battery light illumination?

This sounds like the two bolts which hold the exhaust onto the clutch bell-housing. On my 360 they were loose and completely rusted-up so I had to break them off and replace with new bolts. This cured the severe rattling sound I was getting when changing gear and coasting down hill, but I would check any other exhaust mountings in that area too. Cheers, bogbasic.

Yeah, the same symptoms on my car too and indeed the front bolts are loose and rusted...
