More Uni questionnaire's - nice n easy
Right here's the questions:
1. Do you see a glass/carbon fibre bonnet as a weight reduction performance benefit or an aesthetic feature?
2. If you were to buy a lightweight bonnet would it be:-
No change from existing bonnet design
With vents, see models below and say your favourite
3. Would you want the bonnet hinged or fully removable?
4. Would you want it unfinished (carbon) or body coloured?
5. How much would you be willing to spend on a lightweight bonnet?
Anything else extra you would like to add?

1) Not having looked into the weight difference, aesthetic
2)c) as that may actually be able to be ducted around where my turbo is going for some cooling!
3) Hinged, thats why sockets were invented
4) Body
5) No more than Volvo price (or the price I got an OEM Volvo bonnet for....

2) f (best of the bunch )but would like to see escort RS turbo or astra gsi vents

Thats great guys keep them coming, i've also noted the fiesta and astra vents Mick, was going to do them but needed to get the survey up asap and they'd take more time to model, any other ideas for designs just say though, i'll be looking at airflow a bit later in the project

front of hood will have lower pressure than rear, also vents there won't interfere with aerodynamics, so air goes in at front and gets up to vents, with that kind of shape of vent as in pics it creates even stronger vacuum, but I'm sure you will have access to software that can model airflow and you can notice this very well in there.
That picture is actually not hood vent, but design of shape is same.
I have heard how snow that has get top of that area goes upwards instead of moving along bonnet, when going over 50kph in Golf with bonnet vent placed in such way

I'm not sure if my answers will be very helpful. I'd only consider replacing the bonnet if the old one was damaged.

I don't have much interest in a CF bonnet, so you don't have to use my answers

2. Existing bonnet design, or maybe very subtle airvernts as Jani Showed. Location of vents should be based on cooling requirements rather than asthetics.
I can't believe no-one noticed this, but you'll need a cutout for the heater grill thing
3. Needs to be hinged so you can quickly open it up to check fluids etc, but it'd be handy it if was easy to fully remove, perhaps a few strong pins on the hinge mechanism?
4. It would obviously depend on if you had a proper modded car where a CF bonnet would be cool. On a stock car CF just looks rice, so body coloured.
5. I can't really say as I'm not really interested. I'd pay £40 maybe, although I know realistically this is far too low.

It's fairly easy to have a hinged quick release bonnet, I've seen it on a mk1 Fiesta rally car - you just replace the hinge pins with stiff wire with hooks on the end, that just pull out to remove it.

2. Standard I think, as often big vents cause more problems than they're worth by letting water get into the engine bay. I know a few people who've had various vent-related problems (on cars designed with them). I would only consider a vented design if I seriously needed the extra cooling.
3. Removable for better access in the engine bay, with maybe some sort of quick release hinge so you can have it propped up for minor work.
4. Body coloured. Unfinished carbon would look totally wrong on a 300 (as it does on most chav'd up cars IMHO).

MJ.. I know its missing, unfortunately haven't had time to model it yet but it will be getting done, just done 12hours straight on the project for the presentation tomorrow. From the research carbon bonnets are more like £450-600 and more like £200 for glass fibre, also combined with the fact you guys wanting body coloured panels starts to make carbon less attractive
