My car

Post by Carl »

I'm thinking that it might be time for a change, so i think my GLT will be up for sale if anyone is interested. Heres a little bit of info:
Its a 1988 F reg 360 GLT

Recent head gasket and cambelt (about 1000miles ago i guess)

Also serviced at same time (oil, filter, plugs, leads, antifreeze)

I cooked the brakes at the weekend, so it now needs a wheel cylinder and new shoes, but i will probably get that done this weekend. Possibly a new set of discs too, but they're still ok to use. The pads are mintex M1144, but the old unknown make pads may as well go with it. Also has new brake fluid.

Needs new centre exhuast and rear box, again i will try and get this done.

I will be putting the old wheels/tyres back on, which are still legal, but a bit crap IMHO. The wheels with decent tyres are negotiable (although 2 are not as new as they used to be!)

Starts, runs and drives lovely.

MoT till June 05, tax till end of year.

I have enjoyed owning this car, but it needs a fair bit of money spent on it for what i would want to use it for (road rallying). For an everyday driver its lovely, but i'm looking at getting something a bit more 'nimble' now. If i dont get a decent offer i may well store it somewhere, save up some money and the do the work i wanna do (uprated brakes, new dampers all round, sump guard primarily) , but we shall see.

Feel free to ask some more questions, or make me an offer :)

Well i brought it for £230 in the summer. Since then i have done a fair bit of work (primarily the head gasket and cambelt), and also taxed it. I will do the rear brakes this weekend too. So with all that done i'd say £300, but i'm not really sure TBH. Is that a fair price, do ya reckon?

If i can raise enough cash for the new car without selling it, then i will keep it as a little project, as i really do like it.

May be interested in the car, depending on your location?

Also, what sort of condition is the 360 in, any cool extras.. a nice (usually) broken sunroof or guages etc? Do you have any other pics, I saw the one in the 300 Family thread, my favourite colour!

I'm in Southampton

The car has a sunroof (broken unfortunately). The slider thing on the nearside has broken, but i've never got round to fixing it. It has PAS, heated seats, and electric windows, but no extra gauges.

It has a bit of rust, should be repairable if you wanted to (sill is getting a bit weak, plus theres a hole in the rear wheel arch, above the mud flap, but i dont think thats really important).

Interior is in good nick, the outside has a few dints and bashes. But I think it looks great personally.

I'll try and get some photos at some point, but its in the garage with the rear brakes apart at the moment.

Not that far only a couple of hours, and i could meet you half way :)

Still agonising about selling it, i've now put my PS2 and hi-fi up for sale in an effort to raise some cash if anyone is interested in them!

I'm goin to have to decline it :( Can't really afford to buy another car at the moment - even though it's really bloody tempting! Sure you'll be able to sell it for what you're asking, it certainly looks good - even better if you manage to raise money elsewhere and keep the 360 for yourself.

"Decent" is big praise indeed!! Not everyone would agree with you on that! :) But i've been more than happy with it!

I am open to offers on it though. Will find out tonight whether i can store it or not, if i cant then i will need to get rid of it next week :(

As for the cambelt, its easy peasy. The hardest bit was trying to remember how the hinges on the bonnet worked when putting it back on! The camshaft, intermediate shaft and crankshaft pulleys all have timing marks on them, and the belt itself has marks that you line up with these, and hey presto its done.
