Sorted out electrical "issues" i think on my lovely 360, but there no fuel now...

No fuel getting into carb.

Even with carb fuel line removed, no fuel comes out the line when cranking engine over.

Tiny little spit once, or twice, not even raindrop sized tho.

Obv not blocked if the above happens, and has plenty of fuel in the tank.

So all i can think of is the mechanical pump is shagged.

Nothing to do with the swirlpot thing etc would affect that would it, its all connected as ever. Or would it?

Any ideas? Ir am I calling the breakers to take it away?
I really CBA changing the fuel pump as its out of MOT at end of month anyhow...

The fuel pump is a simple job if it is that and even a super cheapo job from a motor factors would be ok if you don't want to go to a stealership.

It's probably the braided cloth covered fuel lines going to the pump and from the tank to the fuel lines that run from the front to back of the car. These are thin and get perished, resulting in it sucking air, not fuel. Buy a short length of the correct internal diameter fuel injection hosing which is thicker from Hellfrauds even, a couple of pipe clips, as they are probably one piece one use clips on there, and job done.

To test the pump get a can of petrol and some rubber hose. Connect rubber hose to pump inlet and tother end in can.

If the pump is working withthat then blow through the lines to trace the leak.

its just its a car worth what, 100quid (esp with the rear arch damage i bought it with, etc), so not wise to bother too much with it...

Then scrap it and get another.....almost guaranteed to have other problems. Cheap cars are cheap because they haven't been looked after.

If you get a cheap car, for the price of a new TV, or less for instance, it's something that is a lot of car for your money, it can get you around, there are lots of parts that can go wrong. As Andy says, it's often been neglected or abused. My van was in a right state, but it was ok in some respects, it's not perfect now, but I've addressed the urgent things, and now I'm working through the not so pressing issues.

However spending a lot more money doesn't guarantee a trouble free car! You can spend ten grand on a car and still end up with a sack of ****.

On the bay of E there is a fuel pump for a carbed 360 B200K for £7 BIN, and £4.95 postage and packaging. Hardly gonna break the bank, a few minutes to fit it and IF THAT is the cause, result. That's a a few pints down the pub........ cheap motoring if you ask me!

I'd still be betting it's the more common problem of the short sections of fuel lines myself.

What about my car??? Its got full service history etc just worn out clutch small hole in exhaust and dirt it even has MOT for 3 months

LOL, yeah that was a good find it seems. If your tv remote batteries fail, you don't chuck it out and buy a new tv. The same goes for if your teeth fail, you don't get yourself put down! It's life that cars will cost money, sadly that's where motoring gets expensive from day one, servicing and maintenance, then TAX, MOT, petrol etc! Now the Government wants to charge us per mile...... sign the petition and don't scrap the 360 chap!

A 4door GLEI, which has always been my ideal choice and missed out on two in the past (also narrowly missed out on a 3door 360 as i was ill ).

Ideally id like to keep parts that I can easily store, lights, bonnet, wings, diff, wheels, etc, and get rid of the rest, but if anyone wants to take it away in one job lot, ill let them.

If anyone wants it though, they can have it. Volvo 360, champagne, F-reg, 160k on the clock, piston slappy as hell when cold, carb, PAS, no tax (ill claim it back if im giving it away), MOT till 28th of Feb, no drivers seat (keeping it, and binned the original), welded diff (tho id prefer to keep it), rear passenger arch damage (previous owner, and some more minor stuff from me), rear passenger roof dent (previous owner), genuine volvo towbar, metal front lip dented back (me), clutch on its way but no slip unless you doing something real mental, really good underneath, slightly scabby on wing corners but not much, and the rest in really good condition.

When I say have it I mean no waiting or messing about, just get it and go.
If nobodys taken it within a week or so im ringing the breakers to take it.

I really like them as cars, but I got a really nice one coming, and this ones a shitbox, something I dont need when I got 4 other cars...

Cause I have yet to come across a suitable one for a start!

And this one is lovely.

And unlike the current one, is worth keeping. Exceeding the value of the car is irrelivant (infact, ill easily spend 5 times the purchase price within a month of buying it, i have plans...), I spend over 15k on my Sierra Cosworth, similar amounts at my GTR, and coming on for that on the 200SX at this rate.
The simple fact is, my current one is a shitbox.

Either you guys have a massivley wrong impression of the 360 I have, or your insane. It only exists now as the bloke I bought it off didnt want to claim for the crash on his insurance, theydve wrote it off for the damage on it, whole new rear quarter, and god only knows how theyd fix the roof damage, c-pillar is creased...

Fair enough - but it's not that, it's the fact that in the past a rare/mint condition 300 falls into the hands of a drifter with plans for it - and within a few months, they're bored - the car gets damaged in the meantime and then scrapped. It's just a waste imo. However, if you persue the end result as some people have - then I'm all for it.

EDIT: Might wana keep the useful parts to use on a future car/sell on - sump etc.

Trust me, its not going to be wrecked or some short termer!
The current 360 was only fit for that purpose, and its main purpose was to check the ability and potential of 360s, and now I know they have great potential, now its time to do what I wanted to...

Im not some kid with no clue or experience, every car ive ever owned with an intention to do anything to I buy 100% standard and do it myself with my own plans and ideas, and it works out well.

Ive always worked around performance cars, been a Staff Writer for Redline Magazine for about 2yrs now, and J-Tuner before it, and my primary job is the very technical/performance stuff (which these days is most the mag as its more serious).

Few examples...

Heres my old 3dr Cossie... (400bhp, stripped, caged, anti-lag, huge brakes, etc etc)



My GTR... (3litre 800+bhp with custom everything, Porshe Riviera Blue, 10x18s, etc, ultimate road going R32)






My S13... (100% DIY, adjustable castor/camber/toe/height/bump/rebound, stripped, proper diff, lots of power, pure performance)




The 360 will kinda go in a Retro/VW/German way, not flashy, just cool. I wont bother explaining, ill jus show you when its done.

That thing of yours does sound like a bit of a nail - perhaps best to put it to bed after all Agreed on pulling some of the rarer parts though - get the sump, oil pump, and waterpump pulley if you're planning an engine swap.

My 340 is a wreck, to be honest. It urgently needs a full paint job if it's not going to end up (more of) a pile of rust within the year. If I was a sane man, I'd have it crushed. Instead, I'm going to learn how to do bodywork and paint on a car which ain't gonna look any worse if I bollock it up....and if it all works out ok, maybe reward it with a T5 lump Having said that, if I hadn't obtained it especially for this task, I'd probably be scrapping it...loveable as it is.
