Factory where I would like to work, all that analyzing and creating of new innovative ideas how to improve safety, would love that. Too bad I'm too stupid and never went to study engineering or anything like that

Very interesting stuff. I heard a new Volvo ad on the radio this evening, they really are using the old reputation of safety as their main sales pitch again towards the family market.

Yeah I had spotted the new ad on the radio, Fri night I think, the biggest contender to th esafety crown though is renault though

I'm don't think Renault will ever took away crown from the Volvo...new Volvo concept is so advanced ( I'll be free to say in front of it's time ), that you'll feel like in tank not in the car.

Renault just have too many airbags, and not so much protection in doors and in front side crashes.

Volvo is still a Volvo....i bet only old Russian Volga had more tonnage and it was a really moving tank.

I believe also that Renault has made their cars to crash well on speeds that are used in crash test, but what about above that speeds?

Can't remember what car it was that had very good safety rating with old system, but in new system speed was increased a bit, maybe 15kph? and that car did not so well anymore, structure just did collapse because of increased speed.

In one clip that is on net there was Volvo 940 stw or something like that and I think it was Opel Ascona C, Ascona was standing still and Volvo hit behind at some speed, maybe 80kph or maybe more, anyway Ascona was crushed so badly that there was no rear seats anymore, I think it was at neutral and no brakes on, but still it's own weight was too much. Car was like paper.

Oh yes, Volvo did not got crushed much at all. That clip shows well how safety can be quite big illusion, if manufacturer has concentrated only to front impacts.

Found it from tube, it was 109kph actually, so quite lot more than in crash tests, I think they use 65kph in those tests.
