V3M Photocomp - Round 7 - Sunsets - Vote Now

Post by d3k4y0 »

Well another stella turnout again.
If I had been strict about the rules there would have been one (1) entry.
I'm not going to run another competition after this, it's clear nobody else is bothered about it.

Anyway, vote on (if you can be arsed)

I thought the requirement was that if there was no Volvo involved then "it had better be a bloody good photo".
Terms and conditions apply. This post may go down as well as up. Regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Hard hats to be worn. No reversing without a banksman. No admittance to unauthorized persons. Stop that. Put that down. Leave that alone.

I apologise for being crap with sorting photos out for the last few rounds, but I've been working my arse off at work, in the house and in the garage. Not to mention I have no camera apart from my phone which wouldnt work too well whilst it's dark/getting dark anyway.

But work's now easing off, I've almost finished fitting my new kitchen and the project BX has been sold. Which also means I've got some money to buy a new camera. So if there is another round I'll do my best to join in!

Didn't enter my own comp in the end, as I had set the subject, and cheers Dave for running it.

I would have submitted this as my entry, an old pic, as all my cameras were knackered, even if I had found a good pic to take.

Or possibly this one.

Good work to those that did enter, come on, for the next comp it'd be nice to have lots of entries. Anyone wish to revive the comments and suggestions thread for the photo comps with any ideas of what can be done that would encourage you to enter? Is a longer time scale required for the comp to run to allow people more time to get out taking pictures?

^^ i think the main problem is that people are very busy and are working on their cars lots in thier very small free time, and lots of people here havent got their cars on the road . so i guess more time is one thing.

i was lucky only just got mine on the road ;)

Time is the main issue for sure. Having the car on or off the road doesn't have to restrict you! At least two of my previous entries were of cars that were off of the road, the shell for obvious reasons!

I remember that around the festive season Dave extended the deadline so it was over a month I seem to remember, which did mean it was a long drawn out affair, meaning by the time a winner was selected and then decided on the new category, we wouldn't even get 12 competitions a year! It did encourage some extra entries, however if it's such a long entry date deadline, people then forget about it, I know I did on one comp, then struggled to find time. It's a hard balance to strike!

Dave did have a vote on what deadline date people preferred when he set the comp for one round. If I'm right in thinking, the response was a tad poor, so he chose the longer date.
