What were the optional extras you could specify on a 1988 GLT saloon?

I've just had a read through the history that came with my car and it was first registered as a demonstrator for the Tourist Trophy garage in Farnham. I'd heard the name as its took on the name from Mike Hawthorn the old racing driver. Apprantley its now a Toyota dealership.

Just wondered what extras my car has.

Loads ;) Have a look through that, the 88 GLT would have had a fair few of those standard, although might not have had electric mirrors or PAS (Although, as yours is on a F, should have both!)

What am I looking through?

It has PAS, heated seats, electric windows as far as I can see. The sunroof is still manual tho.

To have electric mirrors and a high level rear brake light off the shelf it needs to be of the 1989 Manufacturing Year. So not all GLT's on an F plate qualify sadly! Should have plenty of toys as standard as Chris says.

As far as we know, electric the electric sunroof was not available from the factory and was probably an aftermarket conversion.

Ok, an F plate GLT should have... (I'll prolly miss something)

PAS
Electric mirrors
Electric front windows
Boot spoiler
Front valance 'lip', three section plastic
GLT moon alloys
Pinstrip interior
Colour coded bumpers
Fog lamps

Think thats about it, there are prolly more!

Things to look out for (though looking at your project thread, I didn't see them!)
Gauges, either the top two in the speedo cluster, or the gauge panel in front of the gear stick
Boot cavity covers (though I doubt they would fit in a saloon, never looked!)
Blue speaker cones (uprated versions) and rear speakers

Think those are the most popular extras you normally find!

Cheers. It doesnt have the gauges, but does have blue speaker cones although one is damaged. Gonna replace em anyway. Apart from that it seems to have everything else.

Nah, saloon boots have a foamish like moulded side panels, instead of plastic ones, so the boot cavity covers won't fit.

Think you've covered it Chris, but the high level rear brake light is another one fr 1989 spec. I read in the other thread yours is a 1988 on an F, so no electric mirrors or high level brake light for you Matt, unless you were lucky!

Blue speakers are better than standard volvo speakers, but that's still not saying much ;)

Were all rear speakers blue cone, or are those even rarer? There were a pair sold on ebay recently, and they were at 99p for ages. I thought about bidding, but they went for £11 in the end.

I think all rears were blue, all the sets I've pulled have been. I think they must have done some sort of package where you get upgraded speakers and the rears thrown in together, which would make sense! (Still havn't found my other rear speakers for Tom... can anyone help him out?)

I thought blues were always in earlier cars. I can't remember having ever seen an F plate or newer car with the blue ones in it...only grey ones.

Have a poke through this...
