Has anybody ever fitted a bias pedal box on their 360/340? I am thinking of fitting one to my 360 road rally car and was wondering wether anyone has done this allready and what experiance they had as a result.

I did hear that you can use a Corsa/Nova type pedal box setup. It bolts onto the plate which the brake servo is fixed to.The cylinders sit in an upright posistion to save room so no worries about hittin the manifold. When you've got discs on the back it would make all the difference

It's certainly an interesting idea, and I agree that it becomes pretty important once you start playing with brake sizes. The standard distribution valve probably won't do the trick any more

I know for certain that the valve is not up to the job coz when i fitted (dare i say it) ford XR3i discs and 2 pots on the back braking into corners was interesting to say the least.I also had 2.8 capri front discs on the front with the caliper carrier and the caliper being ground down a little bit to give clearance. The fronts worked fine until my other half went end over end in it!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes...that's my worry...almost any disc setup will have a lot more bite than the drums, making it prone to swapping ends under braking. I totally agree that some means of setting biasing is called for.

How easy was it to fit the capri front brakes? I've got a set and some cossie calipers in the shed.

The capri discs are quite easy to fit.All i did was take the original discs off of the hub place the capri discs onto the hub with the holes of the hub between the holes on the discs and drill new holes. The other way to do it is take the solid disc off put the capri disc over the hub so the holes line up and elongate the holes in the disc. You can use the original calipers you just have to grind the carrier and caliper fingers down a bit.Its a proven upgrade that works quite well.I have 15 years of experiance working on volvos as a mechanic and thats the easiest way to improve the front brakes on a 360.Other calipers can be made to fit but each caliper has different requirements to fit i.e. brackets to accept different hole alignments, brake surface area coverage and so on.i just took the easiest and cheapest option.(I am a cardi.!!!!!)

My mate hails from near Lampeter...small world!
I have a pair of struts which have BMW e30 325 discs and calipers on them, and people have also fitted Corrado G60 and whatever the hell Adam has on his car...Scoob calipers and god knows what discs.

You can just get an inline valve the can be turned up or down to restrict flow to the back, save you mucking around with a complete pedal box.

They're on just about every rally car ever lol. The lever ones are great my mate has a mk2 escort rally car that I help on and he has a big lever on it next to the gear lever so he can easily ajust the bias all the time.

They're also useful when you blow a rear cylinder - wind the bias all the way to the front, and you can cut off the rear hydraulics completely and drive the car home on front brakes only!
