I am happy again, i have found and bought another. Its particulars are
Red three door. well it used to be red going to need shares in T-cut
1.4 DL manual
102,000 miles, bloke selling it said on phone it had incredibly low mileage!
1989 G reg
MOT until Nov 07
Tax until Aug 07
Exhaust up to the back box is brand new.
Replacement fuel tank
All for £150. I am well chuffed. There is a slight clonk from the prop at idle which i will look at and it desperately needs a service, idle is a bit lumpy, but it ran the 30 odd miles home okay.

Nice one! Good to hear mate, get some pics up. I'm intrigued to see whether clay will sort out the red paint issues, but I'm all out of red cars again at the mo

I think the paint will need some work, I did try last night and got a little bit of a shine but it took about three different products! I did get distracted though by the leaking fuel pipe, wondered why it wouldn't run properly. Its handy that the air filter from a 1.7 fits though saved me a couple of quid, I wonder if the spark plugs are the same......

haha, nice one mate. Thought you would find one...didn't expect to be quite so quick though.
The air filter cover will fit, but make sure to block the idle speed adjusting hole...

If you haven't tried it already, give Farecla G3 a crack. Apply (using stockinette, and with plenty of elbow grease) to a watered surface to prevent it burning through the paint. Wonderful stuff. Once you're done, polish (I use Mer), and then wax (I have some Meguiar's stuff, but it's probably a rip off...).
cheers

I thought it would take me longer, but I had to grab it whatever, isn't that why banks increase overdrafts?!. Thanks for the tip on the polish. Had another go at it last night and got a reasonable shine, luckily the paint isn't faded just really flat.
