Front suspension part

Oh dear, I don't know what they call these things. At the front there are those springs that sit in little cups behind the wheels, and the little cups rust. Well, mine rusted through this morning and poor little Redline had to be trailered to the garage.

The garage have just called to say that they are unable to get a replacement. I believe that it comes as a complete strut.

I may have one lined up from a fellow v3m'er, but wondered if anyone else had one available. It is for the nearside.

The FOTV3 dude George Mitchell had a load made up I believe, he sell's them to non members as well. I think they are less than a tenner a piece.

Good point.. there are cups themselves are often on ebay and can be welded to the existing strut I believe? I have a feeling they were about £15 though

Yup, George sold a load to a parts bloke (I think it was Steve Quinn, but could be very out with that) They are cheaper from George

They are the cups only, and need welding though, but are new.

The trouble is, Gavin will really need a complete assembled strut to get back in action quickly. The spring seats are more of a long-term repair.

Hi chaps,

Thank you for the info. Here we find another part that Volvo no longer supply

I'll have a wander down to the garage this morning and have a chat with them. They have my immobile 340 sat in their yard and they will want it moved ASAP. They may be happy to weld the new ones on, buy then again...

Yup, George Mitchell still has them. He's sending a couple down to me at £10 a piece (£14 for non-members). Marvellous! Panic over.
