Infocenter in a 340...

I have the B18 FT engine in my 340.

I'm wondering if it is possible to put the infocenter in the car..

I have all the sensors, only the speed sensor is different. In the 400 series is located on the gearbox I thinck, and does not have the same connector as the 300 one, wich is in the wheel (If i'm not wrong...)

Any solution?

Yup, it's possible! That was a heck of a bodge though, and most of the orig 400 dashboard is hidden in the footwell. On the list of things to do is a conversion kit for any car (although the ft will be the easiest as the sensors are already there)

The way I've been looking at doing it is creating a new controller that minic's the piggyback board from the 400 dash, and connects directly between the sensors and the 5 pin connector on the info center dash. This also means that other funcitons can be run from the display.

The other (much easier) option if you just want a trip computer is to use one out of a jag XJS. They connect with only 6 wires, the only thing you'd need is a small box to convert the B18ft injector pulses to something similar to the jag injector pulses (well, not quite, but basically do the maths so the flow rate from the injectors matchs the period to get teh same flow rate from a jag injector). Ok, maybe not much simpler after all.

Ok... To be honest.... For me they are both complicated :P

I've been looking at the 400 cables and I thinck that in my case the only problem is the speed sensor right?

Yeah, the 400 uses as you say an electronic sensor for the speedo fitting to the gearbox, have a hunt for the thread where Foggy fitted his 300 compuer, and there is a pic in there as to the type of mod you'd need, basically a pair of magnets on the half shaft with a sensor will do!

Thats the orig thread for my info centre, I'll see if I can find Foggy's thread

There we go, the piccy that Aymat picks on is what you need!

You will need to run a significant amount of the 480 dash cluster as well if you do it that way though, so you'll need to hide it somewhere!!! I think (havn't checked) that you can ditch the main board, and just connect straight to the piggy back board, some poking with a multimeter will tell you!
