Confused Heater
Confused Heater
Right, heres one to try and stump you all. Just drove Kar, thinking its quite cold, so stick the seats and the heater on. First time heaters been on this year, so wack it over to 3 to get the musty smell out. Change the direction slider from front screen (where hot air is coming out) to vents, and open the driver side vent (more hot air coming out). To help the vast amounts of air get around the car, open up centre console vents. COLD AIR COMES OUT!!!!
As far as I know, these are fed from the same pipe further down the system, and if I shut the drivers side you can hear/feel the change in pressure in the centre, so they are on the same system. BUT ITS FREEZING COLD!!!!
Any suggestions?

yeah always cold air out of there.
the quickest way to warm up the car is (apparently) to put the fan on 2 and put re-circ on... if you've got it, eh james?

In GL we have a problem that it is always blowing hot air no matter which position the slider is. That valve which the slider controls has been changed now three times if I remember correctly.. Problem still exists. I even disconnected the wire coming from the slider and moved the lever on the valve manually and still blowing hot air. With the newest valve haven't tried that yet but it's a weird problem because I can't think any else reason why it blows only hot air..

I'll just pretend that I havn't had the car for nearly four years, does explain why I now remember that it always used to take ages to warm up, I only ever used the centre vents.... DOH!!
How much effort would it be to chuck the recirc in you recon? Though I'm not sure it'd be at all useful without air-con

recirc is VERY useful at heating the car up in cold conditions, cos your heating up air that is already 20C rather than 0C...
its not that hard to do i believe, but i wouldnt wanna do the dash side of things, it'd involve lots of fiddly stuff

I have a kit at home that I'm planning to fit when the time comes. It wasn't *too* hard to remove....but then I was being a little brutal to a scrap car...
Speaking of scrap cars...there's one on my local yard with the famous red interior that Aymat lusts after!

Red interior is cool. When I was a kid we had a -83 340DL with red interior.

I think its supposed to be Maroon, but you're quite right...it usually ends up pink-infested. Quite likely right up DeKay's street
Aw c'mon, he isn't bring his (pink bonnetted) car...he's glutton for punishment!
