Bucket seats
Bucket seats
Hey guys
Those of you with bucket seats how have you mounted them?
the set i have i can line one bolt up but the other side is like a few mm to short. and the rear mounts are 4" inchs short in length.
when i had them in the fiesta i had to custom mount them on metal bracketry i had to weld up because they were wider that the fiesta mounts. so how have you guys done it because im stomped atm

i would do that but its litterally a mm out, so i'd make cock eyed holes unless i drill a tad further behind those bolt holesbennett wrote:line the seat up to where u want it and re drill the holes.
thanks lee
these have runners on already..Jason B wrote:I took the standard runners off of the original seats and then put two heavy duty cross pieces on them. Then I bolted my buckets to those. Makes it easy to take seats in and out just like the originals and they adjust for driving position.

So did Jason's I believe, if the old ones don't fit, remove and use the orig 300 ones?

i have just fitted some sparcos today and my bolts where nowhere near,i cut to peaces of plate about 4inchs long.then drilled to suit the holes at the front of the chair so thay stuck out the sides of the chair then it would sit on the part the old seat bolted to and i welded it. now the back of the seat over hung so my options where to make a bracket that bolted on the chair then bent and went straight down to the floor and weld it to it but insted i cut a peace of chunky angle iron the lenghth of from the gear tunnal to the other side then ground down the edges so it fitted better and drilled to suit the chair and welded it all in,i ownly did small welds and in places i could cut it out agen if needed. hope this helps

It depends on how permanent you want any mods to be, if you intend to replace buckets with volvo ones at any point (i.e. selling car) then my method is great, Ideally you'd strip back some carpet and crack out the angle grinder and mig welder to make a great custom mount in exactly the right place. I just didn't have the time to do this.

i'll try the runner idea but i tryed to swap the runners for fiesta ones when i was putting them in the fiesta, but they didnt seem to have access to the bolts. The ovaling idea sounds ideal except the holes in the runs are close to the runners as it is. Also bennet do you have a site/list of all those VRD bits n bobs in your Sig?
