8) Great car other than the slushbox and driving from the wrong wheels.

the slush box is becoming a necessity , I had some damage to my arm 10 years ago and its starting to mess me about again
( losing feeling and grip ) its only going to get worse so hence the auto

What's happening to your arm Mick  ? That doesn't sound too great :-(

Congratulations on your buy, though. If you do miss the BX - I thought they made automatic versions of the GTI? I may be mixing it up with the 405 Mi16 though ...

I used to be a tv licence inspector and got attacked by a paranoid schyzophrenic , he impaled me on a metal gate post and kept pummeling my right arm .

after about 4 months I started losing the feeling and use in that arm , a year later I had it operated on and it did get better ,

just lately it has started going numb again and losing grip without warning.

when I had the operation I was told there were no geurantees it would work forever and that it could not be repeated .

At least the op gave me another 9 years , I have been passed fit to drive although registered permanently 25 % disabled .

there is a BX GTi auto but quite rare and a friend offerred to make a one off auto box for the valver, but even at mates rates it would cost £3,500

Flippin' heck, heavy stuff! That kind of experience can really knock you for six. Hope the loss of grip is only temporary ...
