If you are after std type exhaust then go to your local exhaust centre and ask for a system for the pre cat system. (only the very last of them were fitted with a cat)

If you after a performance system then that is a different matter.

Do you do straight 'bolt on' performance systems for the 340 1.4?
I remember something in the performance parts thread, but can't seem to find it...

Last time I checked, you could still get an exhaust system from Volvo. The price was very good (better than most exhaust places), and the quality is much higher. Most of the aftermarket systems you'll get from a 'tyre centre' seem to last about a month longer than the 12 month warranty....the gits!

cheers

The back box is rattling (sounds like gravel) when you shake it. At first it sounded like a loose baffle and as such, i ignored it. Now it sounds like it is full of bits? Anyway the whole rear section of the exhaust is newish looking.
There is a weird looking 'can' just after the downpipe with a shroud around it.
Reason i thought it was a cat is because i've got a 'this volvo is fitted with a catalytic convertor' sticker in the rear 3/4 window.

Update: Just spoken to Volvo Ashford. They've said that exhausts are no longer available through them. Oh, and got told that mine DID come with a cat! And that is the rusty thing connected by three bolts either end to my exhaust.

The exhausts are made to order but i can do one for the 1.4 - it would be from the down pipe back only as I do not have a pettern for the 1.4 down pipe as yet.

Yes, later cars did have cats - late G plate onwards. Bummer that Volvo can't source them any more. :(

Have we got a latest parts victim then? After the 360 downpipe and now the 340 back box and middle section it sounds like they're removing all exhausts from their catalogue ... :(

Bosal, whilst they only last for 13 months, do make them, and they are cheap as chips. Southerm Exhausts charged me 18 quid a section I think, the cat I've never worried about, as whilst the insides go, the outer always held up!

Not over here, both Bosal silencers for a 360 cost around 250 Euros :(

:o Wow.... anything Bosal we can generally get for £20, no matter whether it's a clamp or an exhaust part ;) Wouldn't ever pay that for bosal though :( Do you get custom places over there that could fab you a SS one? Thats only just under what we'd expect to pay for a custom stainless system

Admittedly, those prices are without shopping around much. I just did a cross-check with another company and got a quote for 185€ for rear & middle Bosal 360 silencers. 1.7's are a little bit cheaper. Over here, Bosal don't sell back boxes for a 1.4 at all - they're around 100€ from Walker.

Maybe I should've stocked up while I was over ;-)

From what Chris has said, it's possible. Just don't expect it to last much longer than 18 months. If it does...bonus! :)

cheers
