Exchange 240 for 340

A bit of a long shot I know, but..............

I currently own 2 x 240's and 1 x 340. I need to downsize one of the 240's for tax and insurance reasons and wouldn't mind swapping it for another 340. As I couldnt bear to part with my 240GLT I would need to swap my 240GL - which is non standard and as follows:

240GL 1990 (H) Saloon. Silver. 113K FSH running on LPG - expertly installed by 240&LPG expert Mike Brace last year. No rust. Owned by me for 3 years and service at an indpendant Volvo garage on a regular basis. New parts over the past year or so include new front break callipers, new Jetex exhaust system, new front headlamps, new badges front and rear, new Michelin tyres about 15K ago. Also fitted with Volvo alloy wheels (Corona). The car is in daily use as my 40 mile per day commuter. Its 100% reliable and I would get in and drive anywhere without a second thought. Its not perfect though and there are a couple of things that need sorting out that to be quite honest arent a high priority for me at the moment! There are some superficial scratches along the top of the driver and passenger door on one side (bloody kids!) though there are only surface ones, the rear discs may need replacing soon as there is a judder under light braking at speed (it started when I had new pads fitted) - doenst bother me much though - and the exhaust is rattling a bit at the manifold flange - just needs tightening I think.

Please note that this car is running on 100% LPG - the petrol tank has been removed and replaced with a gas tank. There is another gas tank in the boot but it is tucked away and there is still loads of boot space. I have travelled all over the country in this car and never had a problem getting LPG - I carry an up to date garage directory and sat nav. I do realise that the prospect of not having the petrol option may put some off though.
This would be a great car if you want something bigger, an LPG car or just fancy a change.

I would be happy to swap it for a 340 1.4 that is a reliable runner and doesnt have any rust issues. Mileage not important as long as its been looked after. I would prefer a 3 door.

Anyone interested just PM me and we can exchange photos etc.

I'll give it a while and if no ones interested go down the route of selling the 240 outright and then looking for a suitable 340.

Ian's 240 is a nice car. I can confirm that there are no issues with it running on LPG only with no petrol.

If I had a good 1.4 I'd be happy to swap.

Ian I'll send you some photos of mine, just been taking some last night. Not 100% sure I can bear to part with it, and I'd have to finish my other 340 first. Your 240's very nice though, would you like me to post some photos of it in this thread?

I know what you mean John, I find it hard to part with any car that Ive had for a length of time and worked on.

Some photos would be good - unfortunately I cant post photos of mine on here via the photobucket route but there are some pics here:

Please note that the car is now fitted with Corona alloys as opposed to the Virgos shown in some of the pics.

Is this car injected or run with a carb?

Electronic injection - though injectors are disconnected due to LPG system. No lamda probe - ECU controls ignition only. The engine runs fine but takes slightly longer than usual to fire up from cold as it has to start on gas as opposed to petrol. Dai helped convert it so will be able to correct me if necessary!

My 240GLT has mechanical injection which I much prefer as there are less electrical gubbins to go wrong!

It can take a bit more starting it just takes a bit of getting used to.

This car would be ideal for your high milage. It can be made to run on petrol again by fitting a complete petrol tank - either replacing the second LPG tank or a small fabricated tank.

Update:

An exchange for Mo's very nice looking red 3dr 1.4 may well be on the cards - he is looking into having the front wings attended to.

That looks like a good one Ian, but he only wanted 150quid for it, so I hope you're getting some wedge with it to sweeten the deal.

Mo's done some work to it since purchase and part of the deal would be that both wings are sorted out. I guess that we need to get both cars toagether look them over and then discuss how best to proceed.

From what I've seen that car's worth lots more than £150, Mo did get a bargain on that IMO!
