1.4 wanted

Well folks being as a swap for my 240 is probably unlikely I am looking to buy a good 1.4 for cash. I would prefer a 3 door but would settle for 5 at a push. Mileage is unimportant but it needs to have been maintained well, be reliable and have no rust issues.

If you have one that you want to sell PM me.

Hi.
I have a 340GL 5 door in grey. MOT until FEb I think. 89K on the clock. Comes with Towbar. One problem though. The windscreen is broken. I've been unable to find one as yet and i think I'm going to have to sell it as is. Apart from the obvious, everything else is fine. Had it nearly a year and I've had to buy an exhaust mount and replace the expansion tank hoses.I'm in SLough.

Sounds interesting. What's the bodywork like? Any bubbling/rust on the sills, arches or door bottoms?

Thinking about the windscreen issue - Ive been lucky enough never to have needed to replace one of these so have no idea as to price. Ive just looked on the 'autoglass' website and they say that they can replace any glass on any make/model/age of car. Im not sure how accurate that assertion is! Ive emailed them to aske how much a 340 windscreen would be fitted.........

The best quote i got was around £110, however, theres another forum member who's getting back to me as he thinks he may have a spare screen.
Bodyrok wise - theres a rust patch at the bottom of the windscreen seal, a few small patches here and there, but overall very good. theres a dent below the petrol cap and the front bumper clip on the passengers side wing has come loose. I've got a spare headlight, dizzy complete and a few other bits and bobs that came with the car. I'll find out how to upload some photos and let you know when they're up.

Thanks

Michael

Most full comp insurance policies will do Autoglass windscreen replacements for 50quid... granted the 2 times they've done mine they've been special (one they cracked 3 screens, and got a bit scared...) but they've always made sure the job was done well in the end!

I was very lucky to buy a genuine volvo top tint screen for £30 and then have a local company fit it for £50 cash. He had a hell of job with it and wished he had quoted a bit more. I'n fairness he did a spot on job.

Unfortunately my girlfriends insurance (her volvo) doesn't cover windscreens and as the best price i've had so far being £110, i dont think its worth it for the value of the car.

That is a very good price if it includes fitting.

If Ian is interested perhaps he will go for it needing glass?

RAC windscreens did mine, or whatever their trading name is. Also a bit special, scratched the first one before coming out, broke another I think, but as I said about the brittle trim and wanting a spot on job, they sent an experience bloke who wasn't brought up on bonded screens who knew his stuff. £150 I think that was for the screen and fitting. Dead chuffed in the end and worth the wait.
