Who has an alarm on his Volvo 340 / 360?
I want to install that on my new GLT (I'm so in love with that car) but I don't know what to choose... The system purposed in the accessories catalog is too old for sure? (and impossible to find of course) A recent Volvo alarm system then?

I've an alarm and immobilser on my 360 GLT. It is an aftermarket system, it was already installed when I got the car, but it really looks simple enough, power from the battery, (backup supply in the unit on a battery) then just links into the central locking for the remote. Motion sensors in the passenger area, they are drilled into the dash by the air vents either side. Helps with insurance costs here too, only a bit but it can be worth it! Pete

I'd get a Thatcham Cat 1 system....(from ebay?)... (Toad Ai606 is my weapon of choice), but fit it yourself. You don't get the Thatcham accredited certificate, so no insurance discount, but you've got a top quality alarm for £100, not 250.

I got an immobiliser on mine but no alarm. One thing i wanted to do when i put the immobiliser in, was have my car send an sms or ring my mobile when such and such a sensor is set off, someone tries to hotwire it or whatever. IMO it'd be a great idea cause as soon as something's up your gonna know, and if nearby you could catch the P**** in the process. Was wondering what would you need to do something like that?

A company called microscan used to do pager systems for car alarms, I had one on an xr2 i used to own (sorry) I think it came from demon tweeks. I would have to agree with james, toad alarms are about the best out there at the moment by the way james, most alarm fitters will write you an insurance certificate for a previously fitted alarm subject to a small inspection and some cash (guy who did mine looked at it for 5 mins and charged me £30 for the certificate) well worth it for the insurance discount.

Wow - that IS well worth the money. I might get myself a Toad Ai606 in that case! I really don't like the idea of the local car audio / security companies 'lad' hacking around with my wiring....a viewpoint which is a total joke if you looked at my wiring!!
